A Change to Our Logo – Part 1

A meeting that I didn’t get included in, or was even aware of, really, has determined that our team needs a logo.

We have a logo, so I’m not sure where this discussion started or ended, just that a new logo is already being created by another group member.

As the creator of our first logo, I’m not really hurt that other members of the team don’t like the one I made, as I’m not particularly attached to it. I’m instead frustrated that this decision is being discussed and voted on without including half the team (including one of our team captains); frustrated that the people that made this decision never gave any input on the logo that we have been using for a few months now; confused on why this is happening a few weeks before the start of the rally; concerned that this could be indicative of friction that could arise on the rally.

I have concerns also because a simple logo was favored months ago when we first were planning this. The original logo is also designed to be only two colors, making vinyl and shirts easy to get made. I’ll reserve judgment until I see a draft of the new one, but so far the concept sounds a bit more complex.

I feel that it’s important not to cause drama over something as petty as our logo this late in the planning, so I’m just going to roll with this change. I don’t want to rock the boat unnecessarily, especially when this will bring other members of the team more involved, and it’s likely that having someone passionate about creating a good logo for us will produce a great result. Despite reservations, I’m looking forward to stickers, shirts, and our rally car with a cool logo, and people on our team proud of creating it.
